Letter Writing Campaign to Stop Asian Hate with Education

Did You Know?

  • • Since the global Covid pandemic started in 2020, there has been a significant increase in anti-Asian discrimination, hate crimes and hate incidents.
  • • 6,603 hate incidents were reported by Asian Americans from March 19, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
  • • 68% of respondents reporting anti-AAPI discrimination were AAPI females
  • • Surveys have shown that 8 out of 10 Asian Americans say they are discriminated against; and
  • • Over 71% of Asian Americans in a survey reported anti-Asian discrimination to be their greatest source of stress, much higher than other pandemic concerns.

As eGirl Power Founder Amy Mintz says, "At the core of Asian hate and all forms of racism is ignorance. Education is a key long-term solution to Stop Asian Hate."

*eGirl Power believes the best way to fight discrimination is through Education, and this is the spirit and approach of our AAPI Initiative, built upon a proven program for over a decade.

The eGirl Power AAPI Initiative unites efforts in the broader community to #StopAsianHate #StopAAPIHate.
Join our nationwide “Letter Writing Campaign” to support Teaching AAPI History in Schools as an effective way to combat Asian Hate.

This is a live virtual Zoom event for organization and company employees, or community members, to participate in the eGirl Power AAPI Initiative. (Contact us to document virtual volunteering hours for corporations). Listen to a presentation by eGirl Power Junior Council members about an important story from AAPI history, and why it is important to teach AAPI history in schools (as currently it is not). Attendees are invited to join us in our nationwide Letter Writing Campaign to support and promote efforts to Teach AAPI History in Schools.
